The following is a summary of certain matters discussed at the October 13, 2022, Board of Directors meeting.
Financial Matters
The Board of Directors adopted a tax rate of $0.495 for 2022. This is a $0.045 decrease from the 2021 tax rate.
Landscaping Matter
Phases 1 and 2 of the Landscape Replacement Project are substantially complete. The Board approved two change orders to install additional landscaping in certain areas adjacent to the Phase 1 and Phase 2 project areas.
Work has begun on Phases 3A and 3B of the Landscape Replacement Project. The contractor is assessing the irrigation system and removing dead/dying plant material.
The Board reviewed the scope of Phase 4 of the Landscape Replacement Project and voted to bid Phase 4 as multiple projects. Phase 4A will include the major intersections along University Blvd. and New Territory Blvd. Bids for Phase 4A will be advertised this month and the Board expects to award a contract at the November Board meeting.
District Operations and Levee Matters
Levee Management Services provided an update on operations in the District. Two of the three spotted alligators have been trapped and removed.
Sidewalk repairs around the walking trails have begun.
Bids for the Pump Station No. 1 improvement project were presented to the Board, and the Board awarded the contract to the low bidder, Wharton-Smith Inc., in the amount of $4,323,700.
The Board authorized the District engineer to prepare plans for erosion repairs for the remainder of the Section 28 lake.
