Your Tax Dollars at Work: Phase I Fence Replacement Project

The Board of Directors of Fort Bend County Levee Improvement District No. 17 is excited to announce the start of Phase 1 of our fence improvement project!  As you know portions of the fence initially built by the Telfair developer along roads on easements owned by the LID are failing.  After discussions with the Telfair Community Association, your LID Board of Directors decided to fund the needed fence replacements.  The replacements will be done in phases, starting with the worst areas.  The LID awarded a contract for Phase 1 of the fence replacement project that includes areas along Chatham Avenue south of New Territory Boulevard, Telfair Avenue from Ralston Branch Way to just east of Addison Avenue and a portion of Kempton Avenue.  A map of the specific sections is available here; Phase I Project area.  The contract was awarded to Johnson Fence, LTD in the amount of $1,124,024.64.  The project is anticipated to start around September 1, 2020 and is expected to take 6 months.

The project will consist of the removal and replacement of 7,826 linear feet of existing concrete panel fence.  Concrete panel fence will be removed and replaced with brick fence.  During construction, the contractor will demolish the existing fence and will install temporary fencing while the brick fence is under construction.  If you are one of our homeowners with landscaping or improvements near the affected fence line, please make appropriate arrangements to remove or protect your property.  A letter has been sent to each affected property owner describing the action and expectations.  Construction will generally take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
